TJ Morris set to create up to 150 Merseyside jobs
Budget retailer TJ Morris, who owns the Home Bargains chain, plans to expand its Gillmoss HQ and also create up to 150 new jobs in the process.
According to a media report, the company put forward plans to build a 284,000 sq ft development next to its HQ on Axis Business Park. The new warehouse and distribution space hub would also feature offices and staff facilities, and would be linked to the existing site via an overhead bridge.
The application, which also contains plans for 169 parking spaces, said the project on 24 acres of land would create the equivalent of 150 new full-time jobs.
Architecture practice AJA has designed the project and claims that: "The scheme provides for the development of a site, which has remained vacant for a number of years, to meet TJ Morris’ distribution requirements to support their continuing expansion."
TJ Morris employs circa 8,000 staff across its portfolio of more than 270 stores, and is likely to further bolster its numbers in the near future.
