Plans put forward for building up to 110 houses in Darwen

Plans for building a new residential development featuring 110 new homes on the Cranberry Lane site near Darwen have been submitted to Darwen Council, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to reveal.

Developers Bloor Homes North West have earmarked an 18.1-acre site comprising two existing fields to the west of Cranberry Lane in Darwen for this scheme.

The company said the scheme would "create a high-quality residential development befitting this location on the edge of Darwen helping to diversify the private market housing available".

The statement added: "The site offers an accessible and attractive location to create high-quality homes. The site is well-placed to provide connections to existing facilities, and offers improved access to public open space, particularly a children’s play area, for existing residents of the local area.

"A residential development in this location will contribute to widening the housing options available, and support the delivery of new, sustainable homes in Darwen, forming what could be viewed as a logical and organic extension to the existing settlement urban edge."
