New specialist Shoosmiths development team in Manchester

Shoosmiths, a full service national law firm, has started up a team in Manchester, in order to boost its residential development practice. The firm acts on behalf of many well-known UK housebuilders, but they wanted to cover more parts of the UK.

The national plot sales team will offer an end-to-end service to residential developers in the region.

Tony Nutting, who was previously the head of Ward Hadaway’s Manchester plot sale team, has moved to Shoosmiths to head up the new team. Supporting him will be two conveyancers, Laura-Louisa Betts and Emma Burns, who previously worked on Shoosmith’s real estate practice.

Nutting said: “Shoosmiths is well known in the market for having a very strong national plot sales team.

"It is exciting to be joining a team with such an incredible depth of expertise and with a clear vision for the future.

"I am looking forward to taking things forward for the firm in the North West with Laura-Louisa and Emma."

Shoosmiths’ national plot sales team currently handles around 10,000 completions a year and is led by partner and national head of plot sales, Melissa Barker.

Barker said: “Our national team helps clients to achieve smooth and efficient sales of new homes to purchasers both where homes are being purchased as residences and where they are being acquired as an investment.

"We welcome the new team in Manchester and their expertise will complement Shoosmiths Manchester’s existing residential development capabilities, enabling the firm to deliver a cradle-to-grave service covering all aspects of residential development from planning and promotion complexities, through to acquisition, construction and disposal.

Vaqas Farooq, head of Shoosmiths Manchester, said: “We are delighted about setting up yet another niche team in our Manchester office at the specific request of our client’s.

"We have relationships with a large number of residential development clients here in Manchester providing new homes and I am delighted that we are now able to offer this service locally further cementing our reputation as a market-leader in the residential real estate sector.”

To make life easier for the new team, they should look into their visitor monitoring system.

Are they still using out-dated, non-GDPR-compliant, paper visitor books? Relying on receptionists to ring and tell them their three o’clock appointment has arrived? Maybe they don’t even have a receptionist and have to juggle managing the desk with their actual job role.

Here at Time and Attendance North West, we have technology which can fix all those problems.

Our Management of Contractors and Visitors Software (MCVS) is a network-based app which lets you book appointments or contractors in advance.
Once an appointment is booked, visitor and host receive an email with the date, time and location. You can also do the same thing through our Self Service Module (SSM) using your browser.

If your reception is empty a lot of the time, or your receptionist/person staffing reception today is busy and would benefit from being freed up from the mundanity of “Please sign in here … I’ll just ring them and say you’ve arrived,” then our Unmanned Reception App is perfect. Visitors can book in from their pre-booked appointment, or create an ad-hoc appointment there and then.

The app can take a photo of the visitor and print a copy of their visitor pass. The display can also be customised with your company logo, name and a suitable background image. The colours of the many button options can also be changed to a range of options.

You can create and specify the questions you would like visitors to answer from a list of type (e.g. Y/N answers, multiple choice, and requiring a signature).

For more information on our MCVS and Unmanned Reception app, please contact us today and our dedicated team will answer any questions you may have.
