New specialist hospital set to be built in south Liverpool

Plans for building a new 106-bed mental health hospital in south Liverpool are on the verge of obtaining approval from councillors, a recent report in the local business media has been able to suggest.

The Liverpool and Sefton Health Partnership’s full planning application to develop a new mental health unit at Mossley Hill Hospital on Park Avenue near Sefton Park will go before members of Liverpool City Council’s planning committee on Tuesday, 29 August 2017.

Mossley Hill Hospital, which specialises in mental health care, spans a total area of 334,628 sq ft.

The application involves demolishing existing outdated hospital buildings and constructing a new mental health hospital featuring 106 patient en-suite bedrooms.

There would be 92 beds for adult acute wards, ten for a learning disabilities ward, and four for an assessment suite.

The proposed new building would have a total internal floor space of 96,606 sq ft.
