Multiple jobs lost as Liverpool contractor goes into administration

All workers at a historic Liverpool-based building contractor and shopfitter have lost their jobs after the company was forced to go into administration, a recent news report in the local business media informs.

W Braithwaite & Sons dates back to 1899 and carried out work for various organisations including hospital trusts, universities, councils, banks and building societies. However, the company entered administration on 2 November 2015, with Andrew Mackenzie and Nick Reed of Begbies Traynor appointed joint administrators.

Mackenzie said: "Unfortunately, over the last 12 months, the company has suffered a number of issues resulting in the current financial difficulties. The majority of the 22-strong staff have been made redundant, but a skeleton staff of seven remains to complete certain contracts.

"The company has a strong reputation and an excellent track record and we are currently looking for expressions of interest for the business and/or the assets of the company."
