Multiple jobs lost as construction firm goes into administration
Multiple jobs have been lost as a Greater Manchester construction services provider collapsed, a news report in the local business media has been able to find.
Naylor & Walkden Construction Services provided design, fit-out, project management and maintenance services to clients in its specialist sectors of hospitality, leisure, commercial, rail and retail.
The company handled several high-profile projects across the North West. This includes working as the principle contractor for the £134,000 refurbishment of Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre in July 2014, undertaking the £200,000 refurbishment of 14 bedrooms and the restaurant at the Grand Hotel in Lytham-St-Annes, and carrying out the £1.9m refurbishment of the four-star Inn on the Square in Keswick.
However, according to administrators, during the first quarter of 2015 the company suffered significant losses on two very large contracts. This had a severe impact on the forecasted short-term cash-flow for the business and as a result the company prepared revised projections to take these losses into account.
Nevertheless, in September 2015, the company discovered that none of the tenders it had participated in had been successful and after reviewing the work in progress it became apparent that the company had to call in administrators.
