Lancashire supermarket chain to cut 100 management posts

A Lancashire supermarket chain is set to cut 100 management positions and close two stores this year in a bid to make the business more profitable on the long-term, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The retailer, which is headquartered in Preston, said the redundancies were needed to make sure the business has a "profitable future".

Despite the restructure, the grocer is pressing on with plans to open stores in Burscough and St Anne’s. It is also redeveloping its branch in Poulton-le-Fylde.

Retail director Paul Minett said: "Booths is entering a very exciting phase of development and the new stores are at the cutting edge both in terms of design and artisan food offer and quality. The customer experience is at the heart of we do, and we’re focusing on the things that matter most to our customers, service, availability and quality.

"To support this, that means a simplified and more accountable management structure, trading from an estate of profitable, vibrant stores. The difficult and tough decisions that we make now will ensure that Booths continues to have a bright and profitable future for generations to come."
