Jobs salvaged as Wirral-based printing company is bought out of administration

Multiple jobs have been saved after Wirral-based card printing company Print Search Chester Ltd, which trades as PSC Systems, was bought out of administration, a news report in the local media has been able to find.

Founded in 1988, the business supplies print services, plastic payment cards and direct mailing services to a national customer base that includes banks, local authorities, housing associations, retailers and insurers from a base at Lumina Business Park in Bromborough.

The company had built strong relationships with its customers but experienced a series of challenges in recent years, administrators from Begbies said. These included the loss of a major contract to be the sole provider of payment cards for Alliance & Leicester in 2009 resulting in an immediate reduction in turnover of 50 to 60 per cent, the loss of an unspecified major contract in early 2015 to a competitor removing a large percentage of its turnover, and unexpected costs in relation to utilities at its premises.

The business and assets of Print Search Chester Ltd were acquired in a pre-pack deal for a total consideration of £70,000 by Blackpool-based PSC Mailing Ltd. The deal safeguards the jobs of all nine staff, enables secured creditor the Royal Bank of Scotland to receive a dividend, avoids preferential claims and ensures the continuity of the business.
