Huge 950-home scheme in Cheshire receives outline planning consent
A residential development scheme that will see a mix of 950 two- to five-bedroom houses being built on a 120-acre close to the Cheshire town of Northwich has received outline planning consent, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to reveal.
The development will be set within landscaped surroundings, with up to 30 per cent allocated as affordable. The wider development will include a village centre with 2,500 sq ft of commercial space, which could house shops, a restaurant or pub, some small offices and a community room.
Large areas of green open space, up to 40 per cent of the total site, will also be opened up along with walking trails along the Trent and Mersey Canal and Wincham Brook that both pass through the site.
The scheme includes a road layout that aims to encourage heavy goods vehicles to pass through the development and bypass Chapel Street, an existing pinch-point.
The developers will also make up to £4.3m in payments for local community benefits as part of a section 106 agreement. These include £2.2m towards education facilities, £1.6m for roads, footpaths signage and maintenance, and funding for a new canal bridge and towards public transport facilities.
