Energy supplier to create 300 new call-centre jobs

The UK’s leading energy supplier has revealed plans to create 300 new jobs across all of its UK call centres, including here the ones based in Manchester and Stockport.

British Gas revealed that the new recruits will be based at British Gas call centres in Oldbury, Uddingston, Edinburgh and Cardiff, with additional recruitment in Manchester, Stockport, Leeds, and Leicester.

Furthermore, it also announced plans to hire at least 12 school-leavers as part of its commitment to tackle youth unemployment.

Kevin Roxburgh, director of customer services, commented on the announcement: "These extra 300 jobs across the UK show our continued focus on providing excellent service for our customers.

"We’re looking for people who are committed to helping customers, to join the 28,000-strong team at British Gas. These new jobs are critical to delivering the service our customers expect, helping with everything from bills and boiler breakdowns, engineer visits and energy efficiency."
