Car manufacturer set to create 300 new jobs at Ellesmere Port plant
A car manufacturer has revealed plans to expand its workforce at its Ellesmere Port plant in Cheshire by creating 300 new jobs over the first few months of 2015, a news report in the local business media was able to reveal.
Vauxhall’s manufacturing plant currently operates on two shifts and employs about 1,600 staff. However, the company revealed that additional staff are required to cope with increased output at the facility after the company managed to win the contract to build the next generation of the Astra in 2012. The actual industrial manufacturing process is set to start towards the end of 2015.
Tim Tozer, Vauxhall’s chairman and managing director, said: "This is great news for Vauxhall and for British manufacturing.”
