Boutique hotel, Hotel Indigo Chester, opens in Chester

A new 75-bedroom hotel has opened in Chester.

The boutique hotel, Hotel Indigo Chester, is owned by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), and is the company’s sixth British hotel. They have more than 100 worldwide.

The Hotel Indigo’s design and aesthetic is inspired by the city's character and the surrounding neighbourhood. The fine dining restaurant Wood Chester, owned by 2015 MasterChef champion Simon Wood, is also located nearby.

Bethan Johnston, general manager at Hotel Indigo Chester, said: "At Hotel Indigo we believe in providing more than just a good night's sleep; we want to create an experience as unique as the neighbourhood in which we are found.

"With our unique design and thoughtful touches inspired by the local history and surrounding influences, guests can get a flavour of the neighbourhood through our hotel before heading off to explore the city for themselves."

Karan Khanna, managing director of UK and Ireland at IHG, added: "Hotel Indigo is now in more than 100 different and vibrant neighbourhoods globally.

"Chester, with its rich history and reputation as one of Europe's prettiest cities, is the perfect fit for our newest opening and we look forward to opening our arms to guests from around the world as well as our local neighbours."

It is vital for hotels to have an accurate record of who is in the building, since not only do they have guests coming and going constantly but they also have cleaning staff, maintenance staff, kitchen staff, bar staff, and many other staff members.

Since many of these staff members will be temporary agency staff, they are likely to still rely on old-fashioned paper timesheet to record their weekly hours.

Getting employees to retrospectively record their hours worked directly onto paper is not only open to fraud and mistakes, it also makes room for human error further up the chain.

Managers have to collect and approve all the timesheets. A study by BrightHR has shown that this can take more than 15 minutes per employee. Those numbers quickly mount up!

Thankfully there’s an easy solution. A workforce management system from Time and Attendance North West would bring your attendance systems up to date and reduce workloads considerably.

Managers would no longer need to approve every single timesheet every single week or month, and accounts staff would no longer need to laboriously type up the timesheets to enter them into the payroll system.

All the staff would need to do is clock in and out using one of our terminals, with either a smartcard or a biometric measurement (fingers or hands).

This data is collected in our WinTA.NET software, and it can be exported straight to common payroll systems such as Sagepay.
