The 750,000 square feet premises will almost treble the space available to Trade Mouldings and will help to create about 30 jobs.

After 16 years of distributing across the UK, successful growth has meant that Trade Mouldings now needs the capacity and flexibility available at Kingsway Business Park. 

 

Director Damien Connolly believes Rochdale was the "perfect location" for the business.

 

"Rochdale and Kingsway are close to the motorway network and Kingsway has direct access to the M62," he said. "Manchester is on the doorstep, Liverpool and Leeds are within an hour and Birmingham is just over two hours away.

 

"That’s a huge population base within easy reach. We have been based in the area for 15 years and wanted to remain close to our existing site as we have many key staff in the area who have been with us from the start."

A distribution centre is usually staffed by workers who are not permanent and salaried. This may take many different forms: permanent but part-time, temporary, zero-hours contract, etc. Generally, they are paid hourly.

 

Dealing with attendance and payroll for such a wide variety of workers can be difficult – doubly so if some are employed through an agency and so submit their hours worked straight to the agency without their supervisor being able to check them first. 

 

Many distribution centres still use old-fashioned ways of measuring time worked for payroll, such as punch cards or even paper timesheets. 

 

Our modern, automated attendance system uses contactless smart-cards or fingerprints to clock workers in and out. It takes less than a second, and if you combined clocking with a door lock, it is impossible for your staff to forget to do it. 

 

There is more to the system than just a “clock”: the .NET software allows you to easily create absence/lateness reports, exports data in formats suitable for payroll, and can use job-clocking data to produce a fully costed analysis and breakdown of time spent on each job.
