Plans approved for 200 new homes in Ordsall
Plans for building 200 new homes, a gym and new commercial space in the Ordsall area of Salford have secured the green light, a news report in the local business media has been able to suggest.
Selectric currently has operations spanning two facilities in Salford, one on Ordsall Lane and the other nearby on Cow Lane. Its full planning application to redevelop the Ordsall Lane site by creating 196 homes and 1,636 sq ft of commercial space across two new blocks has now been approved by Salford City Council’s planning committee.
The proposals feature 89 one-bedroom apartments, 84 two-bedroom apartments, two two-bedroom duplexes, 15 three-bedroom apartments and six three-bedroom duplexes, as well as a residents’ gym on the ground floor. Block A would rise up to nine storeys high, while Block B would be seven storeys at its uppermost point.
The plans were first unveiled in September 2017.
Speaking at the time, Selectric chairman Jack Ellis said: "If this planning application is approved, we’ll be actively looking for a new location in Salford to co-locate these operations. The investment from the residential units will enable Selectric to move into a larger, custom, state-of-the-art manufacturing and warehouse centre, facilitating significant business expansion."
