Jobs at risk as insurance giant decides to shut down Manchester office
Up to 176 jobs are at risk as insurance giant Towergate has revealed plans to close its small business unit (SBU) in Manchester, a news report has been able to suggest.
A spokesman said: "We can today confirm that we have completed a review of our retail unit in Manchester (formerly known as SBU).
"We are proposing to close the unit and move customers currently served at this site to other specialist teams in the group. Regrettably, this has resulted in 176 employees being placed at risk of redundancy."
The company indicated that it is fully committed to mitigating the need for redundancy through redeployment opportunities across the group and its wider collection of sister companies.
