Work starts on new major mixed use scheme in Manchester

Construction work has recently started on a development that includes more than 150 apartments and eight ground-level commercial units in Ancoats, Manchester, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

The development, Sawmill Court, is being built for Manchester Life Development Company, the joint venture between Manchester City FC’s owner and the council.

It will provide 158 one-, two- and three-bed rental apartments, and eight commercial units suitable for restaurants, cafes, shops or small businesses upon completion. There will also be a residents’ courtyard and lobby, 80 secure car spaces, and 128 secure cycle spaces as well as a club room and gym.

The project is bordered by Jersey Street, Murray Street, Bengal Street and Blossom Street in the heart of the Ancoats Conservation Area.
