Plans for building 1,400 new homes near Blackpool receive official approval

Plans to build 1,400 homes 225-acre Whyndyke Farm site have received official approval from Blackpool Council’s planning committee, with the whole project expected to create several hundred jobs in the area.

Beside the 350 two-bed, 700 three-bed, 280 four-bed and 70 five-bed properties that are set to be built on the site, 50 acres have been allocated for industrial, storage or distribution use. The development will also include a two-form primary school and two neighbourhood centres containing retail space, a health centre, a pub, residential units, a café, offices and a takeaway with vehicle access onto Preston New Road and Mythop Road.

Other elements of the scheme include car parking, sports pitches and allotments, as well as natural habitats such as ponds and watercourses. And highways infrastructure would be created to link the site to existing roadways.

It is expected that it will take approximately 15 years until the site is developed in full.
