Planning consent awarded for 20-storey towers in Liverpool

Full planning permission has been granted for two 20-storey towers that are set to be built on a derelict site next to Liverpool Lime Street, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to find.

The proposals comprise ground-floor retail and commercial space with student accommodation and a possible aparthotel above. The scheme has been designed by Liverpool-based architectural practice Falconer Chester Hall.

The first block would be 20/21 storeys high comprising 94 studio bedrooms and 69 "clusters of accommodation" with between four and eight bedrooms as well as communal living and kitchen areas, according to a newly published report by the case officer. And the second block would be 17 storeys high and could be subdivided into either 192 hotel suites or 192 student residential studios.

Currently used as a surface car park, the site comprises the remaining parcel of a wider plot occupied by the Ribble Bus Station until its closure in 1989.
