SMEs in the North-West to record strong growth over the next five years

Small and medium-sized enterprises across the North-West will record a significant growth in turnover over the next five years, recent research from Santander Corporate & Commercial has been able to reveal.

The latest business growth survey from Santander found that senior decision makers at companies with up to 249 employees are predicting turnover to rise by 14 per cent or the equivalent of £1.1m over the next five years.

Approximately 43 per cent of respondents also reported that growing the business organically is an immediate priority, while 24 per cent revealed a desire to introduce new products or R&D innovations, and 16 per cent planned to hire new staff.

Mike Rose, regional director of the North West at Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: "We are encouraged to see that SMEs in the North West are forecasting growth over the next five years.

"The number of businesses looking to grow organically, both regionally and nationally, is very positive news for our region."
