Plans put forward for 325 new homes and employment hub near Crewe
A residential developer has submitted an outline planning application to Cheshire East Council for creating a mixed-use development comprising up to 325 homes, a health centre and community facility, retail opportunities and a pub/restaurant, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to reveal.
Muse Developments also proposed to introduce employment space with the potential to generate 1,200 jobs.
The 65.5-acre undeveloped site earmarked for this project is located 2km to the south-east of Crewe and immediately to the north of the rural village of Weston. Together with an adjacent plot to the east that is subject to a separate planning application, the land forms the Basford East site.
A design and access statement in support of the application has been produced by Planit-IE.
It said: "The vision is to create a vibrant, mixed-use community where people can live and work, within a high-quality, edge-of-countryside setting.
"The proposals include new homes and a local centre offering shops, a health centre and a pub/restaurant. High-quality employment space is also proposed, which has the potential to generate 1,200 jobs.”
