Plans put forward for 400-acre Cheshire life sciences campus
Up to 7,000 new high-value jobs could be created over the next few years as part of a massive new development on the Alderley Park in Cheshire, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.
Manchester Science Partnerships (MSP) has revealed plans for the first phase of development at its 400-acre life sciences campus on the site formerly occupied by AstraZeneca’s R&D HQ. The project aims to turn this area into a community for life science businesses.
Bruntwood and MSP have committed to £30m capital investment for the next three years at Alderley Park to deliver 1.5m sq ft lettable lab and workspace, to respond to the demand and needs of a multi-occupier site, which already features state-of-the-art laboratory and office workspace.
One of the first major redevelopments for MSP and Bruntwood is the redesign of a four-story building on the eastern edge of Mereside, transforming an AZ lab facility into a 300,000 sq ft centre for innovative and ambitious businesses. The centre will include a variety of workspaces from high-end specialist labs to flexible offices and manufacturing facilities.
Designs will centre around a new communal atrium and internal courtyard featuring new meeting and conference facilities with views over the Alderley Park woodland. In addition, substantial new entrances will open up the building and the plans will also feature opportunities for retail and café facilities.
A redevelopment plan of this size is will likely involve multiple contractors and operatives from the building sector, and this is specifically where Time & Attendance North West could put its extensive expertise to very good use.
