North West construction sector could see up to 5,000 new jobs created each year
Up to 5,000 new jobs could be created in the North West construction sector each year until 2019, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has recently forecast.
The annual Construction Skills Network report said with growth expected to be 2.5 per cent from 2014 to 2019, a total of 4,790 new jobs each year could be generated.
Steve Housden, CITB sector strategy manager for the North West, said: "This report is terrific news for the region and shows the construction industry is making a strong comeback."
Large construction projects in the North West include planned work on the new Mersey Gateway Bridge, Liverpool’s £125m Project Jennifer, and ten-year £1bn partnership between the Manchester City Council and the Abu Dhabi United Group to build 6,000 houses in the city.
