Green services company to create up to 150 new jobs

A Chorley-based green services supplier has revealed plans to create up to 150 new jobs after securing a £5.5m framework agreement with Western Power Distribution (WPD).

Under the terms of the deal, Glendale will provide a range of utility arboriculture services across the East and West Midlands, including vegetation management, line clearance and utility arboriculture for storm resilience maintenance purposes around WPD’s distribution network.

Utility arboriculture requires operatives to work alongside high and low voltage power lines. Specialists working on the contract must have completed relevant industry training to national standards and WPD’s own training and authorisation protocols.

James Thomson, director of utility arboriculture at Glendale, who was recently promoted from general manager, said: "This framework agreement will strengthen our existing relationship with WPD and establish Glendale as a significant provider of utility arboriculture services in the UK."
