Up to 40,000 new jobs could be created in Manchester

New projects being developed in and around Manchester could see up to 40,000 more jobs being created in the area over the next ten years, a new report claims.

The paper, “Manchester: A Growing Success Story”, has been published by Ekosgen and gives some interesting insight into just how the city is expected to develop over the next 6 years.

More than £1bn of investment is being spent in the city centre between now and 2017 to ‘future proof’ Manchester’s transport infrastructure. The programme of works, known as Grow, includes the Metrolink Second Crossing, Northern Hub, cross city bus corridor and the redevelopment of Victoria Station.

Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, said: "Manchester is Britain’s fastest-growing city and a place which has a real sense of ambition and momentum. City centre growth means more investment, more jobs and more opportunities.”
