New university technical colleges (UTCs) and studio schools to be created across the North West
A total of seven university technical colleges (UTCs) and four studio schools, including sites in Crewe and Liverpool, are set to be created in the near future, a recent news report in the local business media was able to reveal.
The new educational facilities in Crewe will cater for 800 students and specialise in engineering and manufacturing. The UTC here is being led by Bentley and OSL Rail, in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and Cheshire East Council. Other employers also involved include Siemens, Bosch, Oliver Valves, Chevron Racing and Optical 3D.
The Studio @ Deyes in Liverpool is sponsored by the Lydiate Learning Trust, a multi-academy trust led by Deyes High School, and will focus on professional and financial management as well as advanced manufacturing, logistics and digital business, and cater for 300 students.
