North West records UK’s highest level of industrial take-up in 2012

The North West recorded the highest proportion of industrial take-up of the UK regions in 2012, with 12.5m sq ft transacted, a Lambert Smith Hampton research report revealed.

However, that’s down 12.4% on the previous year and the lowest since 2007, this situation being partly explained by the lack of stock and also by the relatively low performance of the SME sector, seriously affected by the buoyancy of the economy.

It’s interesting to note, though, that the manufacturing sector was particularly active in 2012 with companies such as Tygavac, Ferguson Polymer, and Comfy Quilts all taking expansion space in the North West, while Asda purchased a 600,000 sq ft distribution centre in Rochdale for £325,000 an acre. Jaguar Land Rover also rented a 405,365 sq ft industrial unit in Ellesmere Port for £4.45/sq ft.

Naturally, given the fact that more and more companies are investing in new industrial space, it would be a good idea for them to also seriously consider investing in various solutions designed to optimize their business processes, such as the comprehensive Time and Attendance and Access Control solutions provided by Time & Attendance North West.
