Jobs in the North West are under threat at Carlisle, Chester, Manchester and Preston. This is because 39 Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) regional offices are at risk of closure. A statement from the Roads Ministry said the centralising of services will provide “much more choice and flexibility around how and when motorists deal with the DVLA,” including electronically and in partnership with others.
